Nicole and Alex were married in a large Serbian wedding on an absolutely beautiful day in May, one that was less than a month after a fair amount of snowfall hit us. And what would a Minnesota wedding be without immediately talking about the weather? In a day as beautiful as this, you can see that the sky looks incredible. However, strong sunlight brings a huge amount of shadows, which is why sunlight is the photographer’s enemy. Due to this, we really decided to play with the shadows, rather than try to exclude them entirely. You’ll see that is a lot of the shots below. Their engagement session was the absolute opposite, pouring rain the moment it ended.
There were people from all over at this wedding. Nicole and Alex themselves are actually from Nebraska, so the only other time we saw them in real life was at their engagement shoot last year. The wedding was a Serbian wedding, complete with a meal of pork, sauerkraut, and veggies. Serbian food is GOOD. You could tell that family was a huge part of the day, as the times of the day that we saw the biggest smiles on the bride and groom’s faces was when they were near family and friends.
Overall, it was a lovely day. It was our first time shooting at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club (we will be shooting there again this year and next year) and we really loved the venue. It’s amazing how fast you adjust to guns being fired while taking photos.
