Jolene and Mike’s wedding is the prime example of why you should just absolutely ignore weather forecasts when you are getting married.
For the ENTIRE week, there was supposed to be nothing but thunderstorms the day of their wedding. The day before the wedding, I spoke to Jolene because it was still supposed to be raining, via the forecast. The forecast was a bit problematic, as Jolene and Mike were getting married at a hotel and really wanted to do their first look, couple photos, bridal party, and family photos at a nearby park. I can be pretty easy to do first look and couple photos in the rain because if the couple is into it, game on. However, it’s not that easy to do that with groups of people because they won’t want to be in the rain. So we had to come up with a backup plan.
What happens? There was zero rain. It was pretty much the exact opposite of rain. We arrived at the park and it was in the eighties and incredibly humid. I have to give a lot of credit to everyone who did photos outside because it was so humid. Funny thing about this is that their engagement session was the EXACT opposite, being below zero at sunrise in Minneapolis. Afterwards, we dashed off to the hotel for the ceremony and reception. Their wedding was very family oriented, with more children at a wedding than we have ever seen. We counted twenty-five at one point and they were taking full advantage of that dance floor. It was a lot of fun and everyone seemed to be enjoying every second of the day.
Highlights of the wedding:
There was a magician at the reception. We had never seen that before and it was so much fun.
They had cookies with the cake and they were such cute cookies! I just loved them.
For the first dance, they did the “Dirty Dancing” dance and instead of having him lift Jolene, she lifted one of her daughters. I didn’t know that was coming and it was such a great way to end the dance.
Thank you to the following vendors for making this day so great!
