We shot Katherine and Jim’s Minneapolis sunset engagement photography on a beautiful October evening.

There’s something about Saint Anthony Main in October that feels tailor-made for engagement photos. On a sunny autumn evening, the historic streets along the Mississippi glow with warm light, and the neighborhood’s brick textures and river views create an effortlessly romantic backdrop.

This session took place just before sunset, when the light softens and everything takes on that golden, end-of-day warmth. The couple chose Saint Anthony Main for its blend of old-world charm and relaxed energy — a perfect fit for a session that felt both intimate and timeless. As the sun dipped lower, the light wrapped around them beautifully, highlighting quiet moments, easy laughter, and the kind of connection that doesn’t need much direction.

October evenings in Minnesota can be unpredictable, but this one delivered clear skies and gentle warmth, making it ideal for strolling, pausing, and letting the setting guide the pace of the session. The result is a gallery that feels natural and unforced, with the city and river acting as a subtle supporting character rather than stealing the spotlight.

These two will be continuing their story in March with a wedding at Le Venere.  Le Venere is a beautiful venue in Saint Paul that we are very excited to be working at.  It will be our first time there and we just know it will be a lovely day.
