Colorful Wedding Dresses
One thing we have seen on the rise lately are colorful wedding dresses. And we totally love it!
When most people think of a bride, they think of the color white. It’s just the nature of it. Despite wedding dresses being colorful even back in colonial times, white has become tradition. Well, that has clearly changed over the years.
We get really excited when people wear dresses of a different color. Why? It shows the personality of a person a LOT. We’ll give two examples from last season that we thought were amazing.
The very first thing we saw when we walked into the hotel room this day was the purple wedding dress. Seriously. When we opened the door, it was hanging in front of us in the closet across the way. Both of us and the videographers were like, “Is this your dress? This is awesome!!” I mean, how can you not love this? It’s incredible.
Another we photographed last year was the following:
Megan’s choice of a red velvet dress was amazing. She and her groom looked SO stylish. It was also a winter wedding (although you wouldn’t know it with the warm weather outside). So the red in the winter just felt really fitting.
Where can I find colorful dresses?
You used to have to look at other dresses to find a colored one for a wedding dresses. Examples include cocktail dresses, Quinceañera dresses, or prom dresses. You can still look at those places, depending on your style. However, a lot of wedding dress shops have gotten on the colorful train as of late. The following links are some designers that we know of that have some gorgeous dresses:
Black: Maggie Sottero
Red: IEIE Bridal
Rainbow Dipped: Dolly Gown
The fact is, you can do whatever you want on your wedding day. That includes wearing whatever colors you want. People often worry so much about what others think (or say) that they don’t understand that a wedding is their day. If you’d rather be in black than white, do it. If you want a colorful or patterned dress, do it. You may not even want to wear a dress at all. You may want to get married in a pantsuit or jeans or whatever. DO IT! Be who you are and enjoy your day.
