December Engagement Photography
It’s so funny how different our December engagement photography looks from year to year. Last year, it was nice and warm and looked like fall. The year before, it was freezing! This time, it was forty degrees out, but still a little chilly. There was no snow, as the little snow we had melted the day prior. It didn’t matter though. Centennial Lakes Park in Edina is a gorgeous place for engagement photos. We had been there plenty of times in the summer when it was hot. Despite the cold, it was still beautiful. The park does a great job with decor and landscaping upkeep. There were Christmas wreathes on the bridges and lights wrapped around trees. The overall feel was so warm and fun for the holiday season.
We were very grateful for the weather today. A week prior, it had been about ten degrees with wind that made it feel well below zero. Not so much the case today. We met with Sarah and Peter, who are getting married in May. They actually are getting married on 5/25/25, a VERY popular date in the wedding industry. Sarah told us she wasn’t about numerology or anything. It was just the date they picked. It’s amazing how many people have asked us for that date. That day is on a Sunday and we have a wedding on May 26 as well, because that couple couldn’t get a venue for May 25. It’s crazy.
Onto this session. When we arrived, the park was virtually empty. Perhaps that was because of the weather, but it was great for picture taking. Sarah had multiple sweaters and a poof ball hat, a great accessory for winter photos. We spent the hour walking around the park getting to know them and get some great photos. Much like most couples, you could tell they were a little nervous at first, but once we talked a bit, they were really comfortable. That’s our main goal with couples. We want people to be happy and have fun. We know that when we shoot their wedding in May, that will be just what it will be. A fun time. We can’t wait! Also, one of my favorite moments was at the end of the session, Peter joked about doing the “King of the Hill” wedding photo. I REALLY hope they do this.
