Downtown Stillwater Summer Engagement Photography
A downtown Stillwater summer engagement session is always a favorite. If you’ve never visited Stillwater, Minnesota, it’s worth the trip. The historic downtown area is full of charm, with brick streets, unique shops and great restaurants. There are also plenty of beautiful spots for photos. It’s one of our favorite places for engagement sessions.
We met up with Alex and James on a Monday morning in June. With their busy schedules, finding a date that worked for everyone took a little planning. So we were excited when everything came together. The last time we photographed in Stillwater, the weather was freezing cold. We were especially grateful for the warm summer morning this time around.
One of the things we love most about engagement sessions is having the chance to slow down and get to know our couples before the wedding day. It gives everyone an opportunity to become comfortable in front of the camera. It also helps us learn more about who they are together. Alex and James were so easy to photograph. They spent the morning laughing together, enjoying the beautiful weather, and taking in everything that makes downtown Stillwater such a great location.
Alex and James also brought their dog along for the session, which we always love. Pets bring so much personality to engagement photos and make the experience even more meaningful. Their pup was the perfect addition to an already fun morning exploring downtown together. Some of our favorite images from the session included all three of them walking through downtown and enjoying the riverfront area.
A Monday morning session also had the added benefit of smaller crowds. We were able to wander through some of our favorite spots without having to work around too many people, allowing us to create a variety of images that really showcase both the couple and the character of Stillwater.
These two will be tying the knot at CHS Field this September, and after spending the morning with them, we’re even more excited for their wedding day. September can’t come soon enough, and we can’t wait to celebrate alongside them as they start this next chapter together.
