Wedding at the Confluence Hotel

This will be our second time photographing a wedding at The Confluence Hotel in Hastings, Minnesota.  It’s always nice to return to a venue we’ve had the chance to experience before. Set along the Mississippi River in a beautifully restored historic building, the hotel has a character all its own, blending the charm of its past with a more modern feel.  The setting is part of what makes this place special. The Mississippi River runs alongside the hotel.  The Hastings Bridge adds to the scenery and is a great spot for photos.  It’s a beautiful setting for a wedding day.  We were so happy to be back to capture another couple’s story here.

We were really excited to be working with Hannah and Brian.  The two of them are such nice people.  We had so much fun with them during their engagement session and even just meeting for consults.  It’s often a little tougher when you get to the end of the season and are really worn out from shooting weddings for months.  This was the type of wedding that was just easy.  Everyone was wonderful to work with.

Highlights of the day:

• Okay, this is awesome.  We found out the day of the wedding that the two of them are big fans of the “Trailer Park Boys”.  So are we.  They even played the theme at the ceremony.  Which fits surprisingly well with a ceremony. But then we kept talking about it, which was so fun.
• When we first got there, Hannah was washing off the eyebrows the makeup artist had put on her.  Much like me, she doesn’t wear makeup regularly and the eyebrows just looked crazy to her.  It made for a great story all day.
• They had a bunch of kids at their wedding, including their own daughter.  The kids were all really well behaved and it was just adorable.  While we were eating dinner, a little girl walked up to someone working at the hotel and asked if they lived at the hotel.  Which is such a kid thing to ask.
