This is the first of our real serious destination weddings. There is a lot to deal with during a destination wedding, especially when it goes international. This whole week was like a huge adventure.
Originally, Becca and Justin contacted us to shoot a second wedding they were going to have. Their second wedding was going to be the wedding they had in Minneapolis. They told us they were going to Curacao for a destination wedding and could only bring a few people. For that reason, they wanted to do a second, local one. We worked out a deal with them to shoot both weddings, and found ourselves getting ready for the Caribbean.
It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. One of the best photos we got was an underwater shot of the bride and groom after the jumped off the boat in their formal wear (see below). We had bought an underwater camera specifically for this, and unfortunately, when we first used it, the side popped open, filling it with salt water and destroying it. The GoPro was bought as an underwater backup and with that camera and a lot of editing, we were able to produce the underwater image that has become quite a hit.
We gained a lot of friends on this shoot, as it’s impossible to spend six days shooting a destination wedding with a group of people in a small area without developing relationships with them. We just loved working with everyone. They were a great group of people.
