Kellie and Joel were married on a beautiful fall day at Schaar’s Bluff in Minnesota. This was the first time we had ever been to a Schaar’s Bluff wedding. Not only is in a beautiful spot for a wedding, it’s just gorgeous all the way around.
We were super excited for this day, as Kellie and Joel were the ones we flew to Colorado for their engagement session. When you do a destination shoot with a couple, you tend to get to know them better than if it’s just somewhere local. I think that’s because there’s just a lot more involvement. Check out here engagement session in the mountains here. It was so much fun. We hiked to Dream Lake at sunrise, which is something I never thought I could achieve. Then we went over to the Stanley Hotel. We LOVE “The Shining” so that was amazing.
It seemed only fitting that their wedding be at a place like this – where they are so immersed in nature. A Schaar’s Bluff wedding is just that. It was so beautiful there and the day was so laid back. I mentioned to Kyle at one point that I felt like it was less work and felt more like we were out of town visiting friends. It was just such a great day.
Highlights of the day:
- Kellie surprised Joel by having their dog brought in before the ceremony.
- As the ceremony started, it began to rain like crazy. It looked like it would be a lot worse. Honestly, as a photographer, I thought it was a lot of fun. I was almost laughing through it because I felt like a little kid running through the rain. And what can you do, right?
- They did two champagne spray photos and NAILED them. Make sure to scroll down to see the night ones.
- They had Tipsy Pies for desert. If you’ve never tried them, go get one now. They are amazing.
