People are constantly asking us about Minnesota outdoor family photography.  There are the occasional studio requests, but people love the outdoors around here.  Especially in the fall.  There are so many locations and Whitetail Woods is certainly one of them.

Last fall, we had the pleasure of photographing a Minnesota outdoor family photography session at Whitetail Woods Regional Park in Farmington, Minnesota.  We once again, worked with Becca and Justin and their adorable son Archie. The day was cloudy, but the beautiful fall colors made for a stunning backdrop. We were thrilled to work with this lovely family again, having previously photographed their wedding in Curacao.  We also photographed Becca’s brother’s wedding just the year before.  Needless to say, we’ve spent a lot of time with them.  It’s been so cool seeing Archie grow up too.

We started the session by taking some posed family portraits.  But we quickly realized that the best moments were happening when we stepped back and let Becca, Justin, and Archie interact naturally. We love capturing candid moments, especially when working with families. These photos have a certain warmth and authenticity that posed photos simply can’t match.  We also highly recommend them when working with young children.  It makes things easier on the kids and, by extension, the parents as well.

We just love working with these three.  There are certain people that are repeat clients with us. They are some of those people and it’s so cool.  You get to see people grow and to be able to photograph all these moments is such an honor.
