Hyland Park Reserve Wedding

Diana and Paul had a small Hyland Park Reserve wedding on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Bloomington. Hyland Park Reserve in Bloomington is like a hidden gem just waiting to be explored! Picture this: sprawling green spaces, winding trails, and a whole lot of nature to soak in. It’s perfect for a chill day out, whether you’re biking, hiking, or just lounging under a tree with a good book.

This was one of those weddings we just love because we love smaller weddings.  Again, we shoot them a lot.  People often assume we only do bigger weddings, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. Also, a Hyland Park Reserve wedding is a great option for a smaller wedding.  It’s just a beautiful space.

We originally “met” Diana and Paul over the phone.  Technically, only Kyle met them.  So I hadn’t even talked to them, aside from emails, until the day of.  That’s always a crazy feeling.  We have done other small weddings where we have only met over the phone. It happens a lot because often times, people are out of town.  Because of this, everyone involved is always a little apprehensive about how things will go.  If you haven’t met in person, there’s always that wonder.

The two couldn’t have been nicer.  As soon as we met, we were all smiling.  They were just really fun people, the type that we’d love to work with again.

Highlights of the Day

• They did a hand fasting in their wedding ceremony.  We are really big nerds about Scotland and LOVE hand fastings.  So it was cool to see one of those.
• After the ceremony, Paul said it was amazing how much your life can change over the course of fifteen minutes.  This was in regards to the ceremony.  We just loved that.  It’s so true.
• One thing we love about smaller weddings is something that happened here too.  We got there and everyone was like, “Let’s pick a ceremony spot.”  Which they did.  It’s just hilarious because at bigger weddings, the ceremony is SO detailed.  Here, we picked a spot, did the ceremony and there was far less stress.  Awesome.
