Minneapolis Institute of Arts Wedding
Emily and Grant were married at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts on a gorgeous fall day. They were married on a Monday. We had so many people asking, Monday? Who has a Monday wedding?
Well, the two of them, and so many of their guests, are theater actors. Those in the theater know that Mondays are considered traditional dark days. Which means that the lights for the show are off and people don’t work that day. So, it’s a great time to get married!
When were originally met with the two of them, they wanted to do engagement photography at night at the Minnesota State Fair. That was really fun because it’s a unique shoot and we can do night photos. We love night photos, but most people don’t want them for engagement photography. The photos were full of fair games, fireworks, and so much more fun.
The wedding was so much of the same. The museum was closed for the day so it had this really exclusive feel to it. The staff could not have been nicer to work with. They had their ceremony in a gallery and then headed to Paikka for a reception. We had shot at Paikka before. When we got there, we realized the last one we had shot had about five times as many guests. It was so much easier to move around this time. We just loved it.
Highlights of the Day
- The ceremony site. Getting married surrounded by art was so cool.
- The suit colors were all SO colorful.
- The color of Grant’s glasses matched his suit. Love that.
- They saw each other prior to the ceremony but did not do an “official” first look. Instead, they did first looks with their parents and Emily’s grandma. First looks with grandmas are some of the cutest things, I swear.
- Speaking of grandmas, Emily’s grandma was her flower girl.
- There was a really cute photo booth at the reception. It had a big moon to sit at. Check it out in the photos, it was just lovely.
