Lakeville Newborn Photography
This is another shoot we have done with these awesome people. But it’s the first we have done with their baby in tow.
We first met Lauren and Matt years ago when we shot their engagement photography. It was a super rainy day. I remember it so well because it was the first of our engagement session where the rain just did NOT stop. But they just went with it. We then shot their wedding at Mill City Museum. This year, they contacted us to do maternity photos. And now, here we are, doing newborn photos!
Just like our other newborn shoots, we did this at their home. We always find it best to photograph newborns at their homes. They have everything they need there and are the most comfortable. Not only that, but the moms do too. You never know going into a shoot how the mom is feeling, as these sessions are so close to the birth. So we like them to feel comfortable as well.
This was one of those newborn sessions where the baby was crying a lot. I’d say that happens about fifty percent of the time. Parents get all worried about that, but there are ways around it. Most of the photos we got were ones where the two of them were holding here. However, we would cheat to get some solo ones. Lauren would let her daughter suck on her finger. She would then count down, we would get ready, and photograph as fast as possible before she started to cry. So there are little cheats to these sessions.
One thing that was really fun was that they wanted one photo with their cat. This was not the first time we had done this. Cats are always interesting to photograph. They do their own thing. The first shot was perfect. We were happy about that because I don’t think their cat would have gone for another photo.
There was also another standout moment in this session. We all found this so funny. The baby was crying a lot. Like, she was not having this session at all. Well, when she calmed down for a few minutes, they set here in the crib. She placed her hands one over the other all by herself. She looks so peaceful in those photos, like she never was upset at all. It was just hilarious to see.
