Morning Wedding at Como Zoo Conservatory: Natalie and Dylan | Minnesota Wedding Photography

Morning Wedding at the Como Zoo Conservatory

We have shot a morning wedding before.  Actually, several of them.  Part of us love them, even though everyone has to get up extra early.  There’s just something cool about it because it’s something outside of the norm for us.  Plus, we are done earlier.  And who doesn’t love getting out work earlier in the day?

This is one of the many weddings we have shot at the Como Zoo Conservatory in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  We have done both big days there as well as smaller weddings.  It’s a really cool spot for weddings.  We love that we never really know what it’s going to look like.  Meaning, the conservatory changes the flowers all the time.  So you could be walking into all different types of flowers and colors.  It’s really beautiful.

We met Natalie and Dylan a few months back when they asked us if we photographed smaller weddings.  The answer is always, YES.  We mainly shoot bigger weddings, but we usually do about five or six smaller weddings a year.  And by smaller, we mean weddings that only need four hours of photography coverage at the most.  Two of those smaller weddings in our history have been at this venue alone.  They are always fun to do because if we are in the middle of a crazy busy season, it’s like a little break.  If they are during the winter months, it’s a great way to keep up on income.  So bring on smaller weddings!

Their ceremony was at 8:15am.  That means that our day started at 7am!  It was pretty crazy.  Not only that, but I had surgery the day prior, so this was a really different wedding for me.  We arrived at their cute little Airbnb when it was raining.  Natalie and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the attic.  The house was so busy.  When we later arrived at Como, the spring flowers were so beautiful and the rain had let up.  We spent such a great morning with them.

Highlights of the Day

  • For the most part, everyone was really cool about the weather.  Even though the rain let up, we had to do wedding and family photos outside and it was still really chilly.
  • Natalie did this thing where every time we told her to smile, she would laugh.  It was so cute.
  • They did a bubble exit!  We love those.
  • We got to do photography with so many different types of nature.  There were so many flowers and types of trees.
  • We got to see the cherry blossoms!

Thank you to the following vendors for helping make this day so wonderful!
