Jax Cafe Wedding Photography
We had never shot a Jax Cafe wedding before, but we had been to the cafe before. For those that haven’t been there, Jax Cafe isn’t a cafe. It’s more of this cool old school restaurant. It’s a really interesting environment. We didn’t even know they did weddings until last year and were really excited about this one.
We met Amanda and Chris last year. They are really fun people that are very chill. We have lots of super chill clients that remind us a lot of ourselves. Case in point, Chris called me at some point last year and we were at our cabin. I answered the phone and he felt all bad because he interrupted our fishing. I assured him it was absolutely fine because we had no problem answering his questions. Then we ended up getting into this whole conversation about fishing. It was awesome. Just really fun nice people all the way around.
When we shot their engagement session, we got to meet their dog. This session made me realize their wedding was just going to be so fun. They also had a tandem bike that they rode for those photos. It was just so easy and fun. We love working with people like them.
The wedding was so much fun. Their guests were all such sweet people like them. Somehow I had forgotten how beautiful the backyard area is at Jax. We went back there and, well, you can see it below in the photos…
Highlights of the Day
- They did not have a wedding party. Look, anyone that knows us knows that we are a big fan of smaller wedding parties. Large wedding parties are fine, but there are just less variables when you have fewer than six people on each side.
- The two of them did a private first look and drove to the wedding venue together. Despite not being able to see their first look, we love that. I just picture us doing that (which we did not do) and being like, “Hey, honey, let’s get in the car and go get married”. So cute
- The venue was a unique one for a wedding day. Again, I love the old school vibe Jax Cafe has going on. So it was great.
- They had an AWESOME dance floor! We love that because if there is one great way to get photos, it’s by having people on the dance floor. Not only that, but Amanda and Chris were on it the majority of the time.
