Bookstore Engagement Photography

This engagement session was an absolute dream for me.  For those that don’t know, I’m a total book nerd.  Like, of the highest order.

We originally met with Katie and Kaili and chit chatted about their day.  It didn’t take long for me to find out that they were as nuts about books as I am.

They are getting married at the Avalon in Saint Paul next winter.  If you’ve never seen it before, it’s a giant reference library.  Just gorgeous.  Being big fans of books, it makes sense that they would get married there.  We then ended up getting into a super long book conversation.  That intermingled tremendously with the wedding conversation.

When we talked engagement photography, they wanted to do a bookstore session.  If you’re a photographer, you know doing an indoor session is not always as easy as it sounds.  You have to find a place that allows you to take photos there.  Then you have to find out if the place requires a permit or not.  I did a bunch of investigating and eventually suggested Magers and Quinn to them.  If you’ve never been there, it’s great.  They sell new and used books and there are tons of them.  It also was a place where it was big enough to photograph in without bothering others.  So they spoke to the management and we were able to come in on a Monday to shoot.

It was so much fun. We love when we are able to make happen what clients really want.  This was definitely one of those situations.  We shot photos and talked books.  Again.
