Before the pandemic, I never thought we would do a house wedding. That changed considerably over the last year and now we feel more confident than ever when photographing a house wedding. This one was no exception.
Much like many others, Aly and Andy had to postpone their wedding due to 2020. They were originally going to get married at a wedding venue. However, things changed. So instead of getting married at a venue, they spent that money on renovating their basement. That was a perfect choice. Once that was done, they had a house wedding. The ceremony was in their backyard. The cocktail hour was in the basement which had a gorgeous bar in it. They then had the dinner in the main level of their home. It was all such a wonderful day.
One thing about this house wedding is how gorgeous their home and backyard is. Whenever we do a backyard wedding, people worry about how photos will look at their homes. And hey, I get that. After the last year, I can tell you that people have done incredible things with their homes to pull off weddings. I don’t think we could do it at our home. This place was beautiful.
Highlights of the day:
- Aly and Andy hired a chef to come to their home for the dinner. It was AMAZING. We got to have filets with crab cakes.
- Their little boy is SO cute. He kind of stole the show that day.
- They had a two piece band play for the cocktail hour. We love bands on wedding days.
- Aly’s DRESS!! It is such an elegant dress. We don’t often see dresses of her style and I just loved it.
