It’s been a few years since we’ve shot a wedding at the Van Dusen Mansion in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For those who have been to the Van Dusen, you know there is really nothing quite like it. It’s just a gorgeous venue. The first time I was there, I couldn’t believe there was a building like this in the middle of the city.
Jennifer and John contacted us in April to shoot their wedding. That’s only six months before their wedding (hello, math), so we were really surprised we had the day open. As everyone knows, October is SUCH a big month for weddings in Minnesota. We are very happy we were able to fit them in. We met them for pizza upon the initial consult and it was a great experience. Their engagement photos were shot shortly thereafter and it was such a fun session. I remember that it was super cloudy that day, but the photos turned out great. Jennifer and John play off each other so well. We knew from that session that their wedding was going to be wonderful.
Highlights of the day:
- Jennifer’s dress. I know, I say it all the time with the dress. But it matched the venue SO well and I love when that happens.
- They were all just SO nice. Just wonderful people all the way around.
- Their families watched the first look and it was absolutely adorable.
- They decided to do a photo wrapped in string lights. It was really cool.
