I’ll just say it now. This wedding wasn’t exactly ON Thanksgiving, but I’m still calling it a Thanksgiving wedding. It was on the Saturday two days after actual Thanksgiving. We got to eat turkey dinner when we got back from the wedding. I love this time of year. So I’m going to forever call it a Thanksgiving wedding.
As stated above, Katie and Ben were married two days after Thanksgiving. They got married at the beautiful Almquist Farm in Hastings, Minnesota. Those of you that follow us know we LOVE a barn wedding. It’s so Midwestern and so welcoming and warm. The only other style of a venue I would like to shoot a wedding like this would be in a lodge. It just has that awesome vibe to it that matches the time of year.
We originally met Katie and Ben in August, only months before their big day. They are both such nice people. As many of you know, we now do all of our wedding consults at our home. They were the first couple that we didn’t know previously that did a consult at our home. So it was a little intimidating. The two of them couldn’t have been more wonderful though. We shot their engagement photography on a rainy evening in September after a reschedule due to brutal heat. We had so much fun with them and were so excited to shoot their wedding.
Review from the Couple (see it on Google):
“Kyle and Tracy were absolutely wonderful to work with! They took us on as clients only a couple months before our wedding, shared great resources and helped us prepare the list of shots we wanted for our wedding day. They had great communication and would check in to make sure everyone was on the same page.
The engagement photos were awesome and were ready within a few days so we were able to display them at our wedding party and we received so many compliments on the photos. For our wedding, they both made sure we got a variety of shots in different areas including some stunning photos of the snow falling around us. Our wedding photos were ready in under a week and so many of them were otherworldly beautiful. Tracy and Kyle are true artists and will capture the uniqueness of your relationship. We are so happy a friend recommended us to RKH Images and highly recommend them!”
Highlights of the Day
- The two performed kintsugi during the ceremony. For those not in the know, it is a Japanese tradition of repairing a broken bowl with gold. I just love it.
- It started to snow right after the ceremony. Despite the cold, we all went out and got incredible snow photos!
- The two of them had been together since high school. They actually had been engaged for thirteen years. It was a running joke throughout the day.
- They had BBQ for their dinner. It was unbelievably good. That brisket was amazing.
- Awesome venue too. I recommend Almquist Farm to anyone looking for a barn wedding. Beautiful and the people are great.
