This was the first time we had been to Rice Creek Regional Trail for engagement photos. As a result, we would highly recommend it.
Rice Creek Regional Trail is this awesome trail up in Shoreview, Minnesota. Since we normally shoot in the cities and the southeastern suburbs, we had never been to it. However, our couple recommended it, so we opted for it. For anyone interested, it does require a permit from the city. I’ll leave a link to that here.
This was a really busy day for us, so this engagement session ended up being at 9am. It was pretty ideal, as there were far fewer people there than usual at that time. That’s actually a big reason why we like morning shoots. But it was really windy. The kind of wind where you can hear the trees actually creaking and watch them sway. Hannah and Chad were SO much fun. We had to walk a bit to get to the creek, but once we were there, we were able to easily shoot a ton in a really short amount of time.
The two of them are getting married this summer. They are doing a small wedding at Gooseberry Falls (SO PRETTY!). Then, the following weekend will be their reception. It’s really nice for us, as we are having a really busy year this year. Splitting up a weekend like that will give us a bit of a calmer couple of weeks.
You can tell the two really are into nature, as Gooseberry Falls makes that obvious. Rice Creek was extremely fitting for that because it just had an up north feel to it. The huge pines are so great and when you have the addition of the creek and bridge, it makes for a perfect photography spot.
