It was so nice to be shooting a Doubletree Park Place wedding in August.  This year has been really rainy and humid.  So to have a wedding where it was all inside and in one place – love it. Not only that, but I originally thought this wedding was in downtown Minneapolis because of the Minneapolis address. But it was actually in Saint Louis Park, so we had easy parking too.  Also, we didn’t have to go through all the crazy construction this year has brought this state.

On top of that, we were also going to be working with Beth from Kismet Event Group again.  She’s great.  We worked with her in a past wedding and she such a good planner.

And finally, the couple is AWESOME.  We’ve been excited to shoot with them since we met them the first time.  My big thing is that Melanie is a scare actor.  If you don’t know what that is, she’s one of the people that works in haunted houses in the Halloween season. How cool is that?  Kyle’s favorite part is that they had Zelda shirts on during their engagement session. He loves Zelda.  So when they did their second consult and he asked me who we were meeting with, I just said, “Zelda”.  He knew exactly who I was talking about.  They were actually going to Zelda trivia after the second consult as well.

 

Highlights of the Day

• • They cut the cake with a sword.  A REAL SWORD.  See below.
  • There was a whole room of video games.  And I’m not talking about the venue had some arcade games.  They made a whole room.
  • Her dad made their wedding cake.
  • They had a choreographed first dance, which we just love.
  • The tables all had couples from different fandoms on them.  It was just awesome.  There are a bunch below.
  • Melanie walked down the aisle to the “Raider’s March” from “Raiders of the Lost Ark”
