DECC Wedding Photography

Kelly and Michael were married on a fall day at the DECC in Duluth, Minnesota. We had never shot a DECC wedding before, but we have been in Duluth a bunch. It’s always such a nice spot for weddings.

These two are part of one of the groups where we have shot SO many photos with them. We shot Kelly’s sister’s wedding years back. We photographed her other sister’s family photos for the last few years. Then, we have done multiple weddings and family photos from friends of theirs. It’s always so awesome when you get to go back to a group of people you know.

We had a lot of fun with them last spring at their engagement session. We spent sunset with them at Lebanon Hills. They did some of our favorite lift photos. We knew after their engagement session that it was going to just be a really fun wedding.

One hilarious thing about this day is that Gourd Days was going on outside. So when we got there, we looked down, and there was a whole festival happening below us. There was big pumpkin bounce house and all these vendors. Fall in the Midwest – there always seems to be a festival happening.

Highlights of the day

THE PIE. Kelly and Michael told us we could eat the pie. They did pie instead of cake and it was SO good. We ate so much pie.
They got ready together. We have had quite a lot of couples do that this year. It makes things so less stressful on the couples.
They did their cocktail hour before the ceremony. So everyone got to chat with them prior to the wedding.
Due to that, they rolled right into dinner after the ceremony. That was really cool.
When we were doing couples’ photos, the aerial lift bridge went up. So we ran past the barricades and got to take photos with it since we weren’t blocking traffic.
