Minnehaha Falls Engagement Photography
Minnehaha Falls engagement photography can be a tricky thing. Why, you ask? Well, have you ever been there?
There’s always a ton of people at Minnehaha Falls. Even in the winter, people love to go there. Also, Minnehaha Falls engagement photography can easily look like tourist photography if you’re not careful. So it has never been one of my favorite places to shoot. However, live and learn. Now I’m warming up to it.  We are SO excited to be working with Diana and Matt. We shot Matt’s sister’s wedding in Curacao years ago. So we’ve spent nearly two weeks with his family. Had he gotten another photographer, we would have been like, “Um,hello…?”.
Back to shooting at Minnehaha Falls, we did the session on a Tuesday morning. While that may not seem ideal for some, it guarantees that you’re not going to run into the huge crowds. When we got there, there were already buses of people being dropped off. I’m not sure who the first group was. The second was a group of schoolchildren. This was so funny because at one point, we were shooting and the kids were going to walk through the area. The teacher suddenly goes, “You’re going to wait! You’re not getting in their shot!” As I’m just like, hey, thanks. They didn’t need to do that.
If you look through these photos, you’ll see some fun pop culture stuff. Here’s a few for you:
- Their little stuffed Bantha named Mocha. They bring him all over when they travel. So of course he had to be in these photos.
- Diana’s Harry Potter “Accio Coffee” shirt. Seriously, that’s my whole life.
- The dice in the last photo.
The two are getting married at the Como Zoo Conservatory in March. We are really excited to be working with Matt’s family again and to be meeting Diana’s.
Also, on the way to this shoot, Kyle looks at me and goes, “They know the falls are almost dried up, right?” I had completely forgotten about this myself. Needless to say, the photos ended up awesome.
