Titanic Inspired Engagement Photography

Okay, never in my life would I have thought that we would do Titanic inspired engagement photography. Why? When it comes to that movie, I’m not a fan. Kyle, on the other hand, loves Titanic. I’ll give Titanic one thing – the imagery is INCREDIBLE. So doing a shoot based around it was really cool. Adding in the aspect of this Titanic inspired engagement photography actually being a lesbian engagement session made it all the more fun. Also why? Because it’s the same but different from the movie.

So you may be asking yourself how this all came to be. Well, we met Lexa and Kate over pizza one evening and one thing they specifically wanted to know was if we did themed engagement shoots. I always laugh at this because a) we absolutely do and b) I feel like enough photographers don’t. A lot of photographers have this whole bit about how they only shoot one specific way and leave no room for interpretation. Yeah, that’s not us. If you have ideas, bring them to us. In the past year, we did a tea party themed engagement session and another session where the couple wanted to base shots on album covers. We have one coming up that is Midsommar themed this year. Honestly, they are just really fun and clients LOVE it.

Well, they wanted to know what we thought about doing one based on Titanic. They are both big fans, obviously. So Kyle was all over this idea and I’m just thinking about locations and how fabulous this would all look. They booked us immediately and I went home thinking about locations. The Landmark Center just popped in my head as I was going to sleep and I got out of bed and texted them. Couldn’t wait. We all decided that would be perfect and turns out, it really was.

If you didn’t know this was a building in Saint Paul, you could totally see this location as the huge ship. The session itself was amazing. Kate got not only an awesome themed dress, but she had the stocking and shoes too! I loved Lexa’s suit. We just kept coming up with ideas. We were on the stairs and I was like, “Oh, we need to do the ending scene!!”

Overall, we are ridiculously excited for their wedding. They are going to be at A’bulae, which I’m excited about. We shot there last summer and it was great.
