This was the first of our mini sessions at the Minnesota State Fair in 2019. I’m posting this today for a couple of reasons. One, wedding season ate up all my blog posting time, so this is the first I’ve had to do it. Two, we just got seven inches of snow out and I need something warm and fun to look at.
In case any of you are wondering, we do mini sessions at the Minnesota State Fair every year. They’re like a lifestyle shoot, in that we pick things you like at the Fair and follow you around shooting. Some people do couple photos, some bring their families, etc. Libby and Ian were actually getting married soon after the Fair. Because of this, we did their engagement photography, this session, and their wedding. All of the sessions were so different too. Their engagement photography was really chilly, half outside and half in a nightclub. This session was really warm and sunny. The two of them work the Fair every year, so this was really special to them. For that, I’m really glad we were able to shoot it for them. We also got to meet a good chunk of the people who were going to be at the wedding there as well.
It’s funny shooting at the Fair because if you have a couple, people tend to get out of the way of the shots. Despite the crazy crowds, the moment a couple kisses, people jump out of the way because they don’t want to ruin their photos. Granted, you get some photo bombers, but that makes it fun as well due to the nature of the environment.
